About Rich Kids University
Rich Kids University was built on a simple belief. Every child deserves to see themselves as brilliant, rooted, and capable of shaping the world around them. We are not an enrichment catalog or a tutoring service. We are a learning community grounded in Black educational excellence, built for children to grow in who they are while they grow in what they know.
The village I needed.
About ten years ago, my husband passed away, leaving me to raise three boys ages five through twelve completely on my own. It was the scariest season of my life. I grieved hard and prayed even harder.
One answer that kept coming back to me was simple: use what you have in your house. I was a skilled educator and curriculum developer so I started building what would eventually become Rich Kids University and Legacy Prep Christian Academy.
What I kept noticing, in that season and every year since, is how much parents carry. You're already doing the work of raising kids who are informed, grounded, culturally connected, and capable — but there's rarely a structured place to extend that work without building it all yourself.
Rich Kids University exists so you don't have to build it alone. It's the village I needed when I was raising my own three and it's built for your family too.

What Your Child Will Experience
At RKU, your child moves through age bands built for exactly where they are, from Discoverers to Torchbearers. Each week they build in real subjects — Financial Literacy, History, Speech and Debate, Civics, Entrepreneurship, Creative Writing — alongside a learning community, not a screen and a worksheet. They leave a session having made something, argued something, or named something true about who they are.
What We're Building Toward
A child who can speak in front of a room and mean it. A child who understands how money works before they need to learn it the hard way. A child who knows their history well enough to stand on it. This is not enrichment on the side. This is a foundation that propels them forward.
We're growing from serving 200 students in our original in-person model to 2,000 students in our beta program, with families like yours choosing RKU and staying.

The RKU Learning Framework
Rich Kids University's curriculum is not a generic enrichment catalog. It is built on a named, dual-layer framework, grounded in the work of Dr. Gholnecsar "Gholdy" Muhammad and in the traditions of Black educational excellence more broadly. This framework operates on two layers that work together rather than as separate tracks, and it applies across every age band at RKU, Discoverers through Torchbearers.
The subject domains every course lives inside: Self, Intellect, Civics, and Legacy.
The lens every lesson is designed and reflected through: Rooted Identity, Liberated Thinking, Masterful Expression, and Creative Power.
In practice, every course at every age level is tagged to one or more Content Pillars and is designed using one or more of the Pedagogical Pursuits as a planning and reflection tool. A single "Who I Am" poetry unit, for example, sits in the Self pillar and is built using the Rooted Identity and Masterful Expression pursuits. This is what separates RKU from a standard tutoring or enrichment provider. The framework is explicit, named, and visible to families, not an implicit style buried inside lesson plans.
